Capacity Building & Professional Growth Member Grants
Up to $10,000 to be given to five volunteer-led member foundations!

INAPEF President Lisa Baize and the Board of Directors are excited to announce that Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded a grant of $179,036 to INAPEF for three programs:

  1. Professional support/staffing and coaching for five volunteer-led members
  2. Certificate or Ala carte coursework at The Fund Raising School (TFRS), through the Lilly School of Philanthropy at IUPUI, for 14 staff-led members
  3. TFRS certificate coursework and association management professional development for INAPEF’s Association Administrator

This grant is the largest our organization has ever received and undertaken and will impact 30% of the membership.

Conversations started in January 2022 with Lilly Endowment Inc. under Past President Renee Oldham's leadership.  Special thanks to Past President Cyrilla Helm for playing a very significant role in the data collection, communication, and proposal writing process (all while also working on tax credit legislation).

Foundation Coaching Opportunity

Coach Job Description

• This Coaching position is open to current or past staff from INAPEF members.

• Coaches will be paid a stipend or may request INAPEF pay their respective foundations for their time.  Current INAPEF board members may only receive honorarium payments made to their Education Foundation.

• There are multiple needs to fulfill the Capacity Building and Professional Growth for Volunteer Education Foundations Grant Opportunity.   INAPEF is seeking consultants/coaches with significant nonprofit experience related to Education Foundations.  Consultants/Coaches will be needed for a variety of functions and experiences.

Phase 1 - Grant Application Coach:

Coaches will meet with volunteer-led education foundations who have expressed an interest in applying for the grant to learn more about the type of professional support the EF plans to establish with the grant.  These coaches will be required to attend an informational session to receive training on this process and expectations.

Coaches will assist the applicant  in the initial components of the grant application process. The application requires the Standards for Indiana's Public Education Foundations Self Assessment be completed and ideally the professional staffing is linked to their standards.  Additionally, coaches will support the applicants to complete the full application by October 4th.

Applicants will be evaluated based on:

• Board Engagement and Support of Grant Opportunity
• Ability of education foundation and/or district to sustain the position / services.

Phase 2 - Transition Coach:

Selected volunteer education foundations will receive coaching support based on their position needs.  Coaches will be selected based on expertise in one or more of the following areas:  defining board/staff roles, donor management and organization administration, leadership development topics, strategic planning, budgeting, fundraising, grant/program administration, marketing.  Additionally, INAPEF may hire consultants in areas of need for group presentations.  Some coaches will work with the education foundations throughout and other coaches will be invited to provide education/training in specific topic areas.

Because this opportunity is not for a single-type of professional support/staffing, INAPEF will not know the full scope of these needs until the application closes October 4.

In the upcoming months INAPEF will be developing a Coaching Playbook to assist with these coaching sessions.
