Mission

INAPEF's mission is to grow and strengthen Indiana's education foundations as philanthropic leaders through education, training, collaboration and advocacy to enhance public education.

Vision

Through INAPEF's support, local education foundations will be indispensable leaders in providing resources to advance high-quality public education to Indiana's children.

Why we Exist

INAPEF exists for one reason: to support public education foundations across Indiana in their missions to support their local school districts by raising private dollars.

More than 70 education foundations around the state belong to INAPEF to learn, network, share and connect so they can make their foundations as successful as they can be. There's not enough time to go it alone - utilize the ideas and experiences of others to strengthen your own foundation.

The Impact of Education Foundations

94% of Indiana's children attend public schools each day and each day more than 1/2 million Indiana students are impacted by the work public education foundations are doing to bring innovative, inspiring and engaging opportunities to help students learn into their classrooms.

Public education foundations raise private dollars that are granted to their local school districts to help fund the initiatives that public funding for schools just can't cover. These K-12 public education foundations in Indiana bring in more than $16 million annually to school districts across the state.

Many education foundations offer classroom and teacher grants and some offer scholarships to students in the district. But education foundations are also having a larger impact on many districts that they serve by funding initiatives such as:

  • Literacy mentoring program for 2nd and 3rd graders
  • Homework club after school – with bus transportation
  • Summer science camps
  • Come Read With Me – parental literacy sessions
  • Academy of Finance
  • Dual-credit program
  • Summer and intersession enrichment camps - Robotics, Science, Creative Writing
  • Providing grant writing training to teachers seeking additional external funds
  • Backpack program support
  • Teachers serving as college counselors for students
  • Wireless connection
  • Graduation coaches
  • Hands-on, interactive history lessons in refurbished log cabin
  • Career workshop for high school girls on careers traditionally for men
